Trusting God on the Boundaries of Faith
2010 Stewardship Challenge
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why does Graham Church desire to build a new facility? Our Britton Road facility has served us well for many years. We are now at a point where ministry is being limited due to our current building’s design, size, accessibility and function. A land study determined that our Britton Road property does not allow for cost effective expansion of our current facility. God has blessed us with our Lansing Road property which is ideal for the construction of a new building. Relocation will enable healthy ministry for coming generations.
2. What will the new building be like? The new 28,000 square foot facility has been thoughtfully and prayerfully designed for ministry function and cost-effective expandability with single-level accessibility, ample meeting space, large hallways and plenty of room for fellowship. The layout was designed with input from ministry heads, church leadership, professional designers and experienced church builders.
3. Why do we need 28,000 square feet? This allows for current ministries and expansion in near future.
4. Can the new building be expanded? Our new building has been designed with cost-effective expandability in mind. The auditorium can be merged with adjacent classrooms to accommodate an estimated 750 seats and the east classroom wing can easily accept an adjoining structure.
5. How much will the new building cost? We won’t know the exact cost until the bidding process is complete, but it’s estimated that we’ll need around $3,000,000 dollars to build and furnish our new facility.
6. Can we phase construction? Phased construction, while not ideal, is a possibility. Our goal is to build the facility at one time as that is the most effective method in terms of cost, time and function.
7. How will we pay for the new building? Wouldn’t it be an incredible testimony of God’s power and greatness if we could raise $3,000,000 in 3 years through the generous and sacrificial giving of this church? As the Stewardship campaign progresses we will prayerfully consider all options.
8. Are you crazy? Scripture is abundantly clear that God is not limited by statistical probability, economic conditions or human wisdom.
9. What will we do with our current facility? A committee has been assembled to investigate the potential value and sale of our current property. A congregational vote will occur prior to any sale being finalized.
10. When could we begin construction? Depending on financial provision, we could break ground in anywhere from 1-3 years.
